
Mike has consistently supported fiscally responsible budgets that protect taxpayers while maintaining essential services. During his time in office, the Legislature has adopted multiple balanced budgets and approved county property tax rate cuts, including five consecutive years of tax relief. He also sponsored legislation eliminating sales tax on clothing and footwear purchases under $110 — keeping more money in the pockets of hardworking families.
Mike has also supported targeted property tax relief programs for seniors, veterans, and residents with disabilities.

Public safety has been a top priority. Mike helped secure funding to create a Real-Time Crime Center in partnership with the Sheriff’s Office and District Attorney, improving coordination and law enforcement response times. He supported continued investment in the Drug Task Force, contributing to a significant reduction in overdose deaths countywide.
Mike also supported investments in countywide emergency communications by approving a new two-way radio system for first responders and backing $2 million in supplemental EMS funding to reduce emergency response times.

Mike helped establish the Department of Mental Health to better address growing community needs and supported the launch of the 9-8-8 suicide prevention hotline in Dutchess County. He also backed new initiatives to expand mental health services and created the Youth Wellness Microgrant Program to support early intervention and prevention efforts.

Mike supported making Veterans Affairs a distinct unit of county government, strengthening services and improving access to resources for local veterans and their families.

Mike has supported historic investments in Dutchess Community College, including expanded trades and workforce development programs and the creation of a Mechatronics Lab to build pathways into high-demand manufacturing careers.

Mike backed continued investment in Dutchess County Regional Airport, which now operates at a profit for taxpayers, and supported infrastructure improvements to roads, bridges, water systems, and key local intersections — including safety upgrades at Smith & Maloney Road in LaGrange.
He is currently working with the Department of Public Works on safety improvements at the intersection of Red Oaks Mill Road, Walker Rd and Cochran Hill Road.
